FHLF String-Wound Filter Cartridge

The FHLF String-Wound Filter Cartridge is a depth filtration element specifically designed for the clarification of low-viscosity liquids with moderate contaminant loads. Manufactured by precisely winding special yarns (polypropylene or cotton) onto a porous core (polypropylene or stainless steel), it features a unique graduated density structure. This structure progresses from coarse outer layers (20-100μm) to fine inner layers (1-10μm), effectively trapping suspended solids, rust, and micro-particles within the matrix while maintaining a high dirt-holding capacity.

Product Features

  • Graded Density Design: The “outer coarse, inner fine” structure maximizes dirt-holding capacity and prevents surface fromblinding, ensuring a longer service life.
  • High Flow Capacity: Optimized winding technology provides a large effective filtration area (≥0.3 m² per 10″) and low initial pressure drop.
  • Material Versatility: Available with PP or 304/316L stainless steel cores to suit various chemical and temperature requirements.
  • Robust Construction: High-tensile yarns are tightly wound to prevent unraveling and ensure structural integrity under flow conditions.
  • Cost-Effective: Economical solution for industrial pre-filtration and clarifying applications.

Precautions

Selection & Operation Guide

  • Filtration Accuracy Selection:
  • Coarse Filtration (20-100μm): Ideal for removing sand, rust, and large suspended solids (Dirt-holding capacity >5g/m²).
  • Fine Filtration (1-5μm): Recommended for removing colloids and micro-particles. Note: Must be used downstream of pre-filtration to avoid premature clogging.
  • Material Compatibility:
  • Polypropylene (PP): Suitable for pH 1-13. Avoid strong oxidizing acids (pH<2).
  • Glass Fiber / Cotton: Consult chemical compatibility chart for aggressive solvents.
  • Temperature & Sterilization:
  • PP cores are not steam sterilizable. Stainless steel cores can withstand steam sterilization (SIP) at ≤120°C.
  • Flow Direction: Strictly Inside-Out or Outside-In depending on the winding direction (typically Inside-Out for standard string-wound to prevent outer layer erosion). Please confirm with manufacturer.

Maintenance & Replacement

  • Non-Regenerable: The FHLF filter cartridge is a disposable element. Do not attempt to backwash or clean the cartridge, as this will destroy the winding structure and release captured contaminants.
  • Replacement Criteria:
  • When the pressure differential (ΔP) reaches 0.1 MPa (or 0.3 MPa as per specific system design).
  • When the flow rate drops significantly (typically 30% reduction).
  • Pre-Filtration Strategy: In high-sediment applications, install a 20-50μm bag filter or pre-filter to extend the life of the FHLF cartridge.
