Membrane bioreactor (MBR) is a new technology that combines membrane technology with biochemical reaction in sewage treatment, also known as membrane separation activated sludge process. It is a water treatment technology that membrane filtration replaces the secondary sedimentation tank in the traditional biochemical treatment technology. Compared with traditional biological wastewater treatment technology, MBR has the following main characteristics:
1. For efficient solid-liquid separation, the separation effect is much better than that of the traditional sedimentation tank, the effluent quality is good, the effluent suspended solids and turbidity are close to zero, which can be directly reused, and the sewage recycling is realized.
2. The high-efficiency interception of membrane makes microorganisms completely trapped in the bioreactor, realizes the complete separation of reactor hydraulic retention time (HRT) and sludge age (SRT), and the operation control is flexible and stable.
3. Since MBR combines the aeration tank and secondary sedimentation tank of traditional sewage treatment and replaces all process facilities of tertiary treatment, it can greatly reduce the floor area and save civil engineering investment.
4. It is conducive to the interception and reproduction of nitrifying bacteria, and the nitrification efficiency of the system is high. Through the change of operation mode, it can also have the functions of ammonia and phosphorus removal.
5. Because the mud age can be very long, the degradation efficiency of refractory organic compounds is greatly improved.
6. The reactor operates under high volume load, low sludge load and long sludge age, and the excess sludge output is very low. Since the sludge age can be infinitely long, zero sludge discharge can be realized in theory.
